I discuss the latest investing activities of superinvestors as of Q2 2023.
By studying what superinvestors are investing in or not, their trends might give us new insights, investing ideas, and help us to become better investors.
It is fascinating that Berkshire Hathaway made some bets in homebuilding companies: D.R. Horton (DHI), NVR Inc (NVR), and Lennar Corp. Class B (LEN.B). I can see why Berkshire could be expanding into homebuilding given high consumer housing demand and Berkshire’s Clayton Homes is a successful homebuilder of pre-fabricated homes.
I also discuss Mohnish Pabrai, Guy Spier, Li Lu, Bill Miller, Michael Burry, and Greg Alexander investments.
Both Mohnish Pabrai and Li Lu sold entirely out of Micron Technologies (MU) in what seems bearish for semiconductors. Pabrai also dumped Brookfield Corporation and Seritage Growth Properties, leaving his American 13F equity holdings at $73 Million.
For those who like to keep tabs on Alibaba (BABA), DJCO still owned BABA as of Q2 2023 while Bill Miller and Michael Burry completely sold out of Alibaba.
Interestingly, Greg Alexander, Michael Burry, and Biller Miller all bought Stellantis (STLA), which is a merged company of Fiat Chrysler (FCAU) and Peugeot (PEUP). Greg Alexander of Sequoia seems bullish on auto stocks, including Lithia Motors (LAD) and Group 1 Automotive (GPI).
Only the American equity portfolios of Charlie Munger/DJCO and Guy Spier held steady in Q2 2023.
By studying what some of the best investors are investing in or divesting out of, we can hopefully find potentially good investment ideas too.
